It's been a while since I ate here. It wasn't as good as I remember. The prices did not match the quality of food and the service was lacking. Several members of our party had to send their food back. t was not satisfied. Our large party was not attended to as I expected and they had to correct multiple checks. I think I will try other Italian restaurants in the area before I return.

To say I am not satisfied with Portabellos after my last meal there would be an understatement. I had eaten there several times before and the portions were always generous and the quality was always worth the money and then some. What the fuck happened? Me and my girlfriend decided to eat out and I stupidly picked this place with enthusiasm based off my previous times eating there.. big mistake. We ordered very quickly when the waiter was getting the drink order in. I knew what I wanted. The appetizer came very fast and the meal was on the table within 20 minutes of ordering. The appetizer was tiny. Eight dollars for a table spoon of spinach with cream sauce and a few pieces of bread - none of which were over 3 inches in diameter. It was hot so I decided to be hopeful for the rest of the meal, because, hey, I am about to get a huge plate of pasta like I remember..right? I was wholeheartedly wrong. The Bianca plate is a breaded chicken breast with alfredo pasta. The chicken was not crunchy. This fact alone was enough of an indicator to expose the food was not prepared to order. The portion was perhaps half of what it was a few years ago when I frequented. Less than a half a chicken breast was used on the plate I received. To top it off, the pasta was not hot. I was literally famished at the end of the day, so out of desperation I ate the shitty meal anyway. I was all but convinced to just chalk it up to a bad experience and never frequent again, but I decided to speak up after paying. Big mistake, and one I will never make again. I dont complain often because I guess I have been lucky. Usually when I get bad food from somewhere the investment is low enough to not bother. If I ever feel as though I need to complain again I will make sure to do so before paying. I decided before I left to just go ahead and mention it to the waiter and he quickly explained he could summon the manager. When he got to my table he explained all of the food was made to order, which I know was a lie. He may convince some schmucks out there of a lot of things, but he didnt have a snow ball chance in hell at convincing me that the luke warm meal prepared in that that short of time and had gone cold. I was watching the clock on the way there and through out as I had somewhere I needed to be. It was a meal for two and we split the plate. The noodles wouldnt have even been soft enough...and if they miraculously were, then I think it more than reasonable to expect them to have retained heat in the time it took for them to be plated and brought to my table. Fried chicken doesnt turn rubbery unless you stupidly microwave after cooking, any fool could tell you as much. I explained that I found it hard to believe that the meal was prepared that fast and went cold. He insisted once more that the dried out rubbery lukewarm chicken I just ate was prepared for my order, in the last half hour, only the second time around... he was offering a free appetizer card for my next visit. In doing so he made the comment "Everything is prepared to order. I am sorry if they did not cook your meal hot enough." Suffice to say... I turned down the free appetizer card. If you cant craft a lie better than that save your horrible food...even if its free. Someone else mentioned a bad managerial staff person in a previous review here on yelp, and I would hate to think it true that somehow I dealt with the same prick four years later. The 3.5 star rating is generous if that is the case. There are much better polished casual dining experience within a mile of that crapfest - places with better food and cheaper prices and maybe if you are lucky the managers won't lie to your face then offer you a free micro portion of spin-dip.

Food was very good and waitstaff was very attentive. Had the spaghetti and meatball and it was definitely one of the better Italian restaurant in town.

I'll probably never be returning to portobello's. The only thing that makes it appealing is it's proximity to my house (bout a mile and a half), but that can't make up for it's faults. On my most recent trip the hostess, a short asian girl, was absolutely rude... when she finally managed to wander back up to the front, that is. The staff has never been attentive the few times I have been. You could easily spend an hour or two here during their off-time because your server will never check on you. Their manager is rude as well, when I asked to see him he took about 15 minutes to get there and then acted as if he was horribly busy and didn't have time to talk to me. There were only a few diners in the whole building. He didn't want an altercation in the restaurant and so had the gall to give me his card and tell me to email him. Trust me, I did... and the coward hasn't had the decency to respond yet. People like that should not be allowed to work in the restaurant industry. ASIDE from the horrendous staff, portobello's food is mediocre. The price is a little above average. I wouldn't recommend it unless you are absolutely dead set on cheapo italian at a mid-range price, and have a few hours to kill waiting on their incompetent staff. If your experience sucks as bad as mine have, by all means complain to the manager. If its that yellow bellied piece of crap Britt, tell him how useless he is and that he doesn't deserve his job even at such an awful restaurant as portobellos. The place would do well to shut down and cut its losses.

Went here for dinner about a week ago! We got there around 6:30 and there was no wait at all. Our waiter, Michael, was very attentive always refilling our drinks and checking up on us! Great service, great food = definitely coming back!

Decided to come here for brunch and were lucky to find out they had bottomless mimosas and half price Bloody Mary. Was a little disappointed because we had to keep reminding our server for more mimosas. The food came out in a pretty decent amount of time. My fav was the stuff mushroom as our appetizer. The rest of the food was mediocre. Nothing that wow me. I had the parmigiana crusted salad which is like any other salad with fried chicken and eggplant on top. My friend that the pork osso bucco and that meat was fall off the bone good. My best friend had the shrimp and seafood plate and she said it was "ok." It seem to be a bit over priced on the drinks. Nothing outstanding about the service. I probably won't return here. Would choose Mason Grill over this place for brunch!

My friend and I ate dinner here on a Wednesday night. Business was very slow and we sat at the bar. The bartender was very nice and attentive. We ordered the Spinach and artichoke dip for an appetizer, it was just delicious. We also decided to order spaghetti and meatballs to split, it was very good as well but, I wish the meatballs where better. We also ordered martinis from the bar but they did not have good list of drinks and I really did not know what I wanted. The bartender asked me what sort of thing I enjoyed and I gave her the wheel and thank god it was good! I would suggest a good drink list of some different things, maybe something they could label as signature.

Tried the Sunday brunch here and was amazed! Only downfall was they opened at 10 but couldn't serve alcohol till 11am...dumb Louisiana law! They should advertise that better though because I wouldn't have shown up till 11 had I known in advance ;-) Overall, delicious menu options for brunch made it very difficult to decide, but out of the 3 options I tasted, all were delicious. Kids' menu was also fantastic with buttery grilled hamburger buns and crispy French fries that we all loved. I've also been here for lunch before, and the server was great with recommending preferred options to try. I think the prices are on target for the quality of food, service, and quantity as well. Definitely will recommend and will be back!

For the appetizer we got the spinach artichoke dip. It's soooooo good! Ordered the cheeseburger with cold pasta salad. It was delicious as usual. My son also had a cheeseburger and it was cooked to perfection. The dessert we got was the chocolate brownie sundae and it tasted old and stale. We sat in the bar area and got very slow service. Usually it's a 5 star experience but this time was a little disappointing!

I eat here a lot because it's one of my moms favorite places to go to. There's never a lot of people there which is nice and we have never had bad service which is even better. I wouldn't necessarily say it's a romantic place, it reminds me of casual dressy and family friendly. It's also very clean. My absolute favorite thing here is the grilled chicken sandwich. Soooo yummy. Crab cakes and eggplant stack is pretty good as well. I wouldn't get the steak here I'm not a fan, I have got the twin filet numerous times ( to watch my weight and because I won't eat fish at a non seafood place) and I've never been impressed with it. A couple of Sundays ago I went to eat there with my mom for brunch, it's great because they have healthy choices and super yummy choices. And bottomless mimosas... Which is amazing, I got the veggie omelette, which wasn't great but I mean I went on the healthy side so I guess I asked for it.

Went to Portobello's for Saturday brunch and bottomless mimosas. The food was great; I ordered the Crabcakes Benedict. Everyone else seemed to enjoy their food. When we ordered bottomless mimosas we were slow in finding out that their champagne hadn't been chilled the night before and it would be at least a 5 minute wait. The mimosas seemed to be 75% orange juice and the waiter wasn't quick to refill them. This isn't somewhere I'd go on a regular basis, but still good food.

Brunch here is pretty good. I have never eaten their regular menu... The brunch crowd here is pretty reserved. Our table was getting looks because we were having fun and talking and drinking. I mean, we are old enough to know better than to get sloppy at noon! Anyway, I had plain old eggs, bacon and hashbrowns. Everyone commented on how fluffy and crispy and delicious the hashbrowns were.

This restaurant is always consistent in their quality and service. This week, I tried their Crabcake Louisiane for the first time. It was delicious and the magchoux that went with it was amazing. If you get a chance, try their homemade potato chips--delicious!

Excellent place to eat. The chicken parm was very good! A bit pricey; but well worth it for the quality service and good food. Would recommend

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
